Real-life married couple Kevin Kilner and Jordan Baker will co-star in the Pasadena Playhouse production of John Patrick Shanley’s Defiance, January 12-February 18. The production, to be directed by Andrew J. Robinson, will open officially on January 19.

The play is set in 1971 at North Carolina’s Camp Lejeune, where the military base is rife with racial unease. Defiance was first produced by Manhattan Theatre Club, where it starred Stephen Lang and Margaret Colin. It is the second part of a trilogy which started with Shanley’s Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Doubt.

The cast also includes Dennis Flanagan, Robert Manning, Jr., Leo Marks, and Joel Polis. The design team features John Iacovelii (scenic designer), Maggie Morgan (costume designer) and Paulie Jenkins (lighting designer).

Kilner received the 1995 Theatre World Award for The Glass Menagerie and starred in the Off-Broadway and Los Angeles productions of Dinner With Friends. His many film and television credits include One Tree Hill, Earth: Final Conflict, and Almost Perfect. Baker won the 1996 Theatre World Award for Garden District. Her film and television credits include L.A. Law and The New Adventures of Old Christine.
