Dee Roscioli is assuming the role of Elpahaba in the Chicago production of Wicked on December 12, replacing Kristy Cates. She was previously a standby for the role and has gone on many times.

As previously reported, William Youmans also takes over the role of Doctor Dillamond today; he will be with the production through January 14. Youmans originated the role in the show’s Broadway production. He will star next year in the Broadway production of The Pirate Queen.

Wicked, which is based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, has a book by Winnie Hotlzman and a score by Stephen Schwartz. It is directed by Joe Mantello. The Chicago production began performances in June 2005.

The Chicago production of Wicked stars Erin Mackey as Glinda, Rondi Reed as Madame Morrible, Gene Weygandt as the Wizard, Brad Bass as Fiyero, Heidi Kettenring as Nessarose, and Adam Fleming as Boq. Derrick Williams, who is currently playing Fiyero in the show’s Broadway production, will return to the Chicago company on January 19.
