Josh Charles, Tracy Letts, Amy Morton, and Kate Arrington will star in the world premiere production of Richard Greenberg’s The Well-Appointed Room, to be presented by Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre Company, January 12-March 24. The show, to be directed by Steppenwolf co-founder Terry Kinney, will officially open on January 22.

The play is decribed as a wry look at modern relationships, focusing on two very different couples. Greenberg’s other works include the Tony Award-winning Take Me Out, The Violet Hour, and A Naked Girl on the Appian Way. His 1997 play Three Days of Rain will be presented on Broadway in March starring Julia Roberts, Bradley Cooper, and Paul Rudd; Lincoln Center Theater will debut his new play A House in Town in May, directed by Doug Hughes.

Charles received a Drama Desk Award for his work in The Distance From Here. He is known for such films as Dead Poets Society, S.W.A.T., and Four Brothers, and for the television series Sports Night. Letts recently appeared in the Steppenwolf production of The Pain and the Itch and Off-Broadway in Orson’s Shadow; he is also the author of the acclaimed plays Bug and Killer Joe. Morton, one of Chicago’s most popular actresses, was seen on Broadway in the Steppenwolf production of One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest. Arrington co-starred in The Pain and the Itch and The Violet Hour.
