Now in its fourth year, the Nightlife Awards -- created by Scott Siegel and co-sponsored by TheaterMania -- honor the best in cabaret, comedy, and jazz as voted by a panel of more than 20 New York-area critics. Instead of giving speeches, the winners perform to show why they were chosen. Past recipients of Nightlife Awards have included Keely Smith, Betty Buckley, Karen Akers, and Paula West.
Kitt made her Broadway debut in the 1946 review Bal Negre and came to international prominence with her performance in New Faces of 1952. She is a two-time Tony Award nominee for her work in Timbuktu and The Wild Party, and was last seen on Broadway in the revival of Nine. A world-famous recording artist, she is known for such songs as "C'est Si Bon," "Monotonous," and "Santa Baby," and has spent many years performing sold-out shows at the Café Carlyle.
Tickets to the 2006 Nightlife Awards ceremony range in price from $25 to $75 and can be purchased by calling 212-307-4100 or by e-mailing email@example.com.
