Broadway Inspirational Voices to Sing at Harlem Tree Lighting

Michael McElroy and the Broadway Inspirational Voices will perform songs from their CD Great Joy: A Gospel Christmas at this year’s Harlem Tree Lighting Ceremony, to be held at 5:30pm on Thursday, December 8 in the plaza of the Adam Clayton Powell Jr. State Office Building at 163 West 125th Street.

The event will be hosted by CBS-2 News anchorwoman Shon Gables and Fox-5 Good Day New York weatherman Mike Woods. Entertainment will also be provided by R&B singer Freddie Jackson, gospel singer Hezekiah Walker, Gary Anglin and the Voices of CCC, Yaka Roots and Rhythms African Dance Ensemble, plus other special guests.

The Broadway Inspirational Voices was founded in 1999 and now includes dozens of singers from Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. In October, the group performed at The Town Hall in a special benefit concert for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Great Joy, which was nominated for a Grammy Award, features such stars as Sara Ramirez, Billy Porter, Darius deHaas, and Phylicia Rashad singing a host of classic and new holiday songs including “Joy to the World” and “O, Holy Night.”
