Full casting has been announced for the pre-Broadway engagement of NERDS, A New Musical Comedy, which will play North Carolina Theatre's AJ Fletcher Theatre at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts, January 18-February 3. Marc Bruni directs the production, which features musical direction by Matt Doebler and choreography by Denis Jones.
The show, which is written by Jordan Allen-Dutton and Erik Weiner with music by Hal Goldberg, celebrates the birth of computer technology and the two pop-culture icons, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, who made it possible.
Darren Ritchie (Wonderland) and Stanley Bahorek (25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) will star as Jobs and Gates respectively. The cast will also feature Diana DeGarmo (Hair) as Sally, Leslie Kritzer (Legally Blonde) as Myrtle, Benny Elledge (Chicago) as Steve Wozniak, Rob Morrison (Avenue Q) as Paul Allen, James Moye (The Full Monty) as Tom Watson, Matt Wilson (Cyberchase) as Herbert, and Cole Escola (Jukebox Jackie) as Dustin.
The creative team will include Lee Savage (set design), Jason Lyons (lighting design), Alejo Vietti (costume design), Zak Borovay (projection design), and Eric Alexander Collins and Brian Hunt (sound design).
