Cheyenne Jackson will join the previously reported Nathan Lane in a USA Network comedy pilot, according to a report on Deadline.com. Douglas McGrath will write and direct the now untitled pilot, which had been previously called On We Go.

The show will center on an unlucky actor (Lane), who, after his father’s health takes a turn for the worse, must put his Broadway aspirations on hold while he returns to his Texas hometown. Jackson will play a Texan doctor who befriends Lane’s character upon his return home. The cast will also include Ken Jenkins.

Jackson’s many stage credits include Finian’s Rainbow, Xanadu. All Shook Up, and Thoroughly Modern Millie. He also has a recurring role on the NBC comedy 30 Rock. Among his upcoming stage appearances is a concert with the New York Pops at Carnegie Hall on November 18, entitled Cheyenne Jackson’s Cocktail Hour Music of the Mad Men Era.
