Cirque du Soleil’s Michael Jackson The Immortal World Tour Adds April Date at Madison Square Garden

Michael Jackson The Immortal World Tour, the newest touring production from Cirque du Soleil, will now play New York’s Madison Square Garden on April 3 and April 4, 2012.

The show, to be written and directed by Jamie King, will launch with an engagement at the Bell Centre in Montreal, running October 2-3, 2011. Additional tour stops will include Ottawa, Hamilton, Toronto, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Vancouver, Quebec, Detroit, Seattle, Portland, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Denver, Sacramento, San Jose, Oakland, San Diego, Anaheim, Los Angeles, Houston, Miami, Philadelphia, and Atlanta.

The show, which unfolds in a fantastical realm, will combine dance and music to immerse audiences in Jackson’s creative world, giving a glimpse into what might have inspired his work. The piece will be performed by a company of 60 international artists and feature Jackson’s powerful, inspirational music and lyrics.

The creative team for the show will include Guy Laliberté (creative guide), Chantal Tremblay (director of creation), Mark Fisher (scenic design); Zaldy Goco (costume design), Kevin Antunes (musical director), Martin Labrecque (lighting design), Olivier Goulet (projection and video content design), François Desjardins (sound design), Scott Osgood (rigging and acrobatic equipment design), and Germain Guillemot (acrobatic performance design).
