Second Stage Theatre has added Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa’s Good Boys and True to its 2007-2008 season. The play, to be directed by Scott Ellis, will begin previews in late April with an official opening in mid-May.

Good Boys and True is set against a backdrop of 1980’s privilege and power, and tells of a disturbing scandal at an all-boys prep school that forces a mother to confront the truth about her son and herself. The play will also be seen in Chicago next month, in a separate production directed by Pam McKinnon.

Aguirre-Sacasa’s previous plays include the Second Stage Uptown production of The Mystery Plays, as well as Based on a Totally True Story, Dark Matters, Golden Age, and Say You Love Satan.

Ellis directed Second Stage’s The Little Dog Laughed, as well as the company’s That Championship Season. He has received Tony nominations for 1776, She Loves Me, and Steel Pier. His other Broadway credits include Curtains, Twelve Angry Men, The Man Who Had All the Luck, The Boys from Syracuse, The Rainmaker, and A Month in the Country.
