The musical, which features a score by Stephen Sondheim and a book by James Lapine, revolves around the famed French artist Georges Seurat in Act I. In Act Ii, the focus switches to his great-grandson, George, who becomes an artist as well.
The original 1984 Broadway production starred Mandy Patinkin and Bernadette Peters and received 10 Tony nominations, including Best Musical. The show also won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
O'Hara received Tony nominations for her work in The Pajama Game and The Light in the Piazza. Her other Broadway credits include Sweet Smell of Success, Dracula, and Jekyll & Hyde.
