Real-life married couple Ed Harris and Amy Madigan will star in Afternoon Tea, a new musical written for them, as a benefit for The INTAR Theater Company on Sunday, December 11 at 6pm at the Kirk Theater (410 West 42nd Street).

Written by the noted playwright Eduardo Machado, the artistic director of INTAR, and composer Walter Kennon, Afternoon Tea tells the story of the later years of the life of author J.M Barrie. After twenty years of being apart, Barrie’s wife comes back to reconcile their marriage; but he is still lost in the world of fantasy, youth, and Peter Pan.

Harris and Madigan are board members of INTAR. He has received Academy Award nominations for The Hours, Pollock, The Truman Show, and Apollo 13. Harris received a Tony Award nomination, Drama Desk Award, and Theater World Award for Precious Sons, and was last seen on Broadway in Taking Sides. His other stage credits include the Off-Broadway plays Fool For Love and Simpatico; and he recently made his European stage debut in the play Wrecks at the Everyman Palace Theater in Cork, Ireland.

Madigan received an Academy Award nomination for Twice in a Lifetime. Her other film credits include Field of Dreams and Pollock. She played Stella in the 1992 Broadway revival of A Streetcar Named Desire (with Jessica Lange and Alec Baldwin) and starred in the 1990 L.A. production of Machado’s Stevie Wants to Play the Blues, which was written for her. Madigan and Harris will co-star next year in the film Winter Passing, written and directed by playwright Adam Rapp.

The benefit also includes a cocktail reception, a performance by Broadway star
Josie de Guzman, who will sing selections from Peter Pan in Spanish, and a post-show dinner at Le Madeleine. Tickets are $500. Call 212-581-2646 for information.
