The cast album of the Broadway revival of Man of La Mancha starring Brian Stokes Mitchell, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, and Ernie Sabella will be recorded by RCA Victor on Thursday, November 14, and is scheduled to be released to stores on Tuesday, January 7.

Produced by Jay David Saks, the album will provide an audio souvenir of this new production of the classic musical, which begins previews at the Martin Beck Theatre on November 23 and opens officially on December 5 after a run at The National Theatre in Washington, D.C. The show is directed by Jonathan Kent.

With a book by Dale Wasserman, music by Mitch Leigh, and lyrics by Joe Darion, Man of La Mancha is based on the 17th century writings of Miguel de Cervantes and tells the story of the Spanish knight Don Quixote — or, rather, the story of a man who believes himself to be Don Quixote. The original production of the show opened in 1965 and ran for nearly six years, winning five Tony Awards including Best Musical. The most famous song in the score is, without question, “The Impossible Dream.”
