James Barbour, Danielle Lee Greaves and More Set for York Developmental Readings

York Theatre Company has announced plans for its Developmental Reading Series, which presents workshops of new musicals by emerging and established authors. All performances are free and open to the public.

Upcoming productions will include Harold and Maude (October 11 at 3pm). Featuring book and lyrics by Tom Jones and music by Joseph Thalken, this Carl Andress directed musical is based on the film by Colin Higgins and features Matt Dengler (Harold), Rita Gardner (Maude), Jillian Louis, Daniel Marcus, and Jennifer Van Dyke.

Later, David Glenn Armstrong will direct Jim Harris and Mark Hayes’ Civil War Voices (October 15 at 3pm), about a slave who became Mrs. Lincoln’s confidante. Produced by Bob Ost and with music direction by Aaron Gandy, the cast will include James Barbour, Nili Bassman, Danielle Lee Greaves, Paul Anthony Stewart, Lawrence Street, Juliette Trafton, Stephen Trafton, Catherine Fries Vaughn, Chris Vaughn, and Bruce Warren.

Jen Tullock will play Leni Riefenstahl in Christie Baugher’s Leni Riefenstahl is Going to Tell You the Truth (October 19 at 3pm). Directed by Stephen Brackett, with musical direction by Ryan Kerr, this piece takes place in a French mental ward, where notorious Nazi filmmaker Leni Riefenstahl spins a defense of her life and her choices.
