Cyrano de Bergerac is cashing in and his Broadway return hasn’t even opened yet. The large-nosed hero from Edmond Rostand’s play is featured on two collector coins released from The Monnaie de Paris — the Parisian Mint that issues such items for the French government — on September 18.

Part of the collector series “Great characters of literature,” the coins – one gold, one silver – feature an image of Cyrano declaring love for his beloved Roxanne on one side, and an image of Rostand on the other. The gold coin has a worth of 50 Euro, while the silver has a face value of 10 Euro.

Now in previews at the American Airlines Theatre, with an opening on October 11, the Broadway production of Cyrano de Bergerac stars Tony winner Douglas Hodge in the title role.
