Follies in Concert, Mrs. Santa Claus, et al. Among Masterworks Broadway’s Fall Releases

Masterworks Broadway has announced some recordings that it will re-release digitally and as disc-on-demand.

The company will issue a new release of the 1985 Follies in Concert recording in an eco-friendly softpack on Monday, October 24. The album features the cast of the famed Lincoln Center concert of Stephen Sondheim and James Goldman’s musical, including Carol Burnett, Barbara Cook, Betty Comden, Adolph Green, George Hearn, Phyllis Newman, Mandy Patinkin, Lee Remick, and Elaine Stritch.


A 1951 studio cast recording of Rodgers and Hart’s Babes in Arms will also be released on Monday, October 24. The company features Mary Martin, Jack Cassidy and Mardi Baynee.

On Tuesday, November 15, the company will re-release the 1953 studio recording of songs from Eubie Blake and Nobel Sissle’s Shuffle Along, and Jimmy McHugh and Dorothy Fields’ Blackbirds of 1928. Featured on the album are Thelma Carpenter, Cab Calloway, and Avon Long, delivering such songs as “I’m Just Wild About Harry,” “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love,” and “Diga-Diga-Doo.”


In addition, the television soundtrack of Jerry Herman’s Mrs. Santa Claus, starring Angela Lansbury, will receive a digital release on Tuesday, November 15.
