Curtis Holbrook, Liz Larsen, Anthony Rapp, and More Win NYMF Awards; Bebe Neuwirth, Scottsboro Boys Cast to Perform at November 14 Gala

Bebe Neuwirth and cast members from Broadway’s The Scottsboro Boys will perform at the 2010 New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) gala, to be held at The Hudson Theatre on Sunday, November 14 at 6pm. The evening will honor producers Barry and Fran Weisler.

In addition, the recipients of the NYMF 2010 Awards for Excellence have been announced. The big winner is the musical My Mother’s Lesbian Jewish Wiccan Wedding by David Hein & Irene Sankoff, which was named Most Promising Musical. It also took awards for Hein and Sankoff’s book; director Stafford Arima; and actress Liz Larsen.

Outstanding Individual Performance Awards will also be given to Bobby Daye (The Great Unknown), Trevor Downey (Petrouchka), Curtis Holbrook (Frog Kiss), Garrett Long (Things As They Are), Liz McCartney (Nighttime Traffic), Andy Mientus (Shine!), Anthony Rapp (Without You), Steve Rosen (V-Day), and Rachel Stern (Therapy Rocks).

Additional awards include I Got Fired by Keith Varney (Theater for the American Musical Prize); Jeff Thomson, Trails (Excellence in Writing: Music); Charles Leipart, Frog Kiss (Excellence in Writing: Lyrics); Matthew Neff, Petrouchka (Excellence in Choreography); Shine! (Excellence in Overall Design); Tom Kitt, Without You (Excellence in Orchestration); Things As They Are (Best of Fest Audience Prize); and the casts of Fellowship! and The Most Ridiculous Thing You Ever Hoid, which tied for Outstanding Ensemble Performance.

The Daegu International Musical Festival Production Award and The Stage Entertainment USA Development Award will be announced in the coming weeks.
