Lisa Brescia will replace leading lady Caren Lyn Manuel as Cleo in Twyla Tharp’s new musical The Times They Are A-Changin’ beginning tonight, October 3. The show, which features the songs of Bob Dylan, began previews on September 25 and will open officially at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on October 26. No reason was given for the change in cast. Brescia now becomes the third performer to play the role; Jenn Colella was Cleo in the show’s initial staging at San Diego’s Old Globe Theatre.

As at the Old Globe, the leading roles of Coyote and his father, Captain Arab, are respectively played by Michael Arden and Thom Sesma. The company also includes Tony Award nominee John Selya, Lisa Gadja, Neil Haskell, Ron Todorowski, Alexander Brady, John Herrera, Charlie Neshyba-Hodges, Alaine Kashian, Keith Kuhl, Marty Lawson, Jason McDole, Jonathan Nosan, Joseph Putignano, Cary Tedder, and Jason Wooten. The production features scenic and costume design by Santo Loquasto, lighting design by Donald Holder, and sound design by Peter Hylsenki.

Brescia most recently was seen on Broadway in The Woman in White, taking over the role of Marian during star Maria Friedman’s illness. Her other Broadway credits include Aida and Jesus Christ Superstar; she has been seen regionally in such shows as Evita, The Last 5 Years, and A Little Night Music.
