Emily Skinner and Terrence Mann to Star in The Actors’ Fund’s Whorehouse

As previously reported, the staged concert will feature Harry Groener as the Governor, Andrea McArdle as Doatsy Mae, Felicia Finley as Angel, Mary Faber as Shy, Jennifer Hudson as Jewel, Richard Kind as Senator Wingwoah, Constantine Maroulis as an Aggie soloistand, Bob Martin as Melvin P. Thorpe, and the cast of [title of show] — Hunter Bell, Jeff Bowen, Heidi Blickenstaff, and Susan Blackwell — as the Melvin P. Thorpe singers.

In addition, Daniel Reichard, Peter Gregus, Matt Scott, and Tony-winner Christian Hoff from the company of Jersey Boys have joined the cast. The ensemble includes Michelle Kittrell, Amber Efe, J. Elaine Marcos, Rachelle Rak, Christina Norrup, Angie Schworer, Joyce Chittick, Jen Cody, Dennis Stowe, Bret Shuford, Jeff Lewis, Jason Patrick Sands, Will Taylor, and Justin Greer.

Skinner has starred on Broadway in Side Show, James Joyce’s The Dead, The Full Monty, and Lincoln Center Theater’s Dinner at Eight, and in the City Center Encores! productions of No Strings and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. Among her many regional credits are Mame and Merrily We Roll Along at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Mann’s numerous Broadway roles include Rum Tum Tugger in Cats, Javert in Les Misérables, and the Beast in Beauty and the Beast.

Seth Rudetsky will be the event’s artistic producer and musical director; Mark S. Hoebee will direct the show, which will have choreography by Denis Jones, set design by Paul Weimer, costume design by Michael Growler, and lighting design by Jeff Croiter. The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas has a score by Carol Hall and a book by Larry L. King and Peter Masterson. The original Broadway production, directed by Tommy Tune and starring Carlin Glynn and Henderson Forsythe, ran for nearly 1,600 performances.
