In the Wings, the new comedy by Stewart F. Lane, will close at the Promenade Theater on Sunday, October 16. As of that date, the show will have played 21 previews and 21 regular performances.

Starring Lisa Datz, Brian Henderson, Josh Prince, Peter Scolari, and Marilyn Sokol, In the Wings concerns two young actors whose romance is torn apart when only she is cast is a big Broadway musical. Lane is better known as the Tony Award-winning producer of such shows as Throughly Modern Millie and La Cage aux Folles.

In his review of In the Wings for TheaterMania, David Finkle wrote: “Lane may think he’s writing about the show business he knows, but he’s really writing about a show business nobody knows because it doesn’t exist.'”

According to a production source, the musical revue Almost Heaven: John Denver’s America will be the Promenade’s next tenant. Written by Peter Glazer and directed by Randal Myler, the show weaves together Denver’s songs to reflect on the 1960s and 1970s.
