Singer/songwriter Jill Sobule, perhaps best known for her hit song “I Kissed a Girl,” will be among the performers for The Civilians’ upcoming Let Me Ascertain You: Occupy #S17, a cabaret show focusing on the one-year anniversary of the Occupy Wall Street Movement, to be held at Joe’s Pub on September 17.

Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson composer Michael Friedman will provide the songs for the evening, which will also feature performances by Alex Nolan, Amanda Ruzza, Liz Kelly, MaryKate O’Neil, Pistolera with Sandra Velasquez and Maria Elena, and a punk band with Caitlin Montclare.

The show will include monologues and songs crafted from interviews with activists and demonstrators conducted by the troupe throughout the past year.
