Marc Kudisch, Anne-Carolyn Bird, Lauren Worsham, and David Garrison will lead the cast of New York Festival of Song’s season-opening production Mr. Gershwin Goes to Washington. The piece will be performed on Saturday, October 20 at Merkin Concert Hall at the Kaufman Center.

The election satire, which features lyrics by Ira Gershwin, music by George Gershwin and Burton Lane, and is adapted and directed by Laurence Maslon, blends songs from the Gershwins’ satirical musicals Of Thee I Sing, Strike Up the Band, and Let ‘Em Eat Cake into a new story about presidential hopeful John P. Wintergreen.

Kudisch will star as Wintergreen, with Bird as Mary Turner, Worsham as Diana Devereaux, and Garrison in a variety of roles including Alexander Throttlebottom, General Tweedledee, and Comrade Kruger. A member of the political news media will serve as narrator.

New York Festival of Song artistic director Steven Blier will be featured on piano, along with Joseph Thalken.
