Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong to Appear in Broadway’s American Idiot

Green Day lead singer and American Idiot co-author Billie Joe Armstrong will play the role of St. Jimmy in the show’s Broadway production, September 28-October 3, during the first week of co-star Tony Vincent’s leave of absence.

Andrew Call and Joshua Kobak will alternate in the role October 5-10, and Vincent will return on October 12.

The musical features a score by Green Day. It is directed by Michael Mayer, who has written the book with Armstrong, and features choreography by Steven Hoggett.

In addition to Vincent, Kobak, and Call, the company features John Gallagher, Jr., Stark Sands, Michael Esper, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Christina Sajous, Mary Faber, Declan Bennett, Gerard Canonico, Miguel Cervantes, Sydney Harcourt, Van Hughes, Brian Charles Johnson, , Lorin Latarro, Omar Lopez-Cepero, Leslie McDonel, Chase Peacock, Corbin Reid, Wallace Smith, Theo Stockman, Ben Thompson, Alysha Umphress, Aspen Vincent, and Libby Winters.

The creative team includes Tom Kitt (music supervisor, orchestrator and music arranger), Christine Jones (scenic design), Andrea Lauer (costume design), Kevin Adams (lighting design), Brian Ronan (sound design), and Darrel Maloney (video design).
