Kerry Washington and David Alan Grier, along with Craig Robinson, have been cast in the new comedy We the Peeples, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Tina Gordon Chism has written the screenplay for the movie and will direct the project.

The film centers on what happens when a child psychologist (played by Robinson) surprises his girlfriend (played by Washington) by showing up at her family’s annual get-together at their Long Island vacation home only to find them desperately in need of therapy.

Washington and Grier recently starred opposite one another on Broadway in David Mamet’s Race. Grier earned his second Tony Award nomination for his performance in the play. He had previously been nominated for The First. He may be best known for the satirical TV comedies, In Living Color and Chocolate News.

Washington’s other film credits include Ray, Lift, The Last King of Scotland, The Dead Girl, Lakeview Terrace and Tyler Perry’s forthcoming For Colored Girls.
