Lestat, the new musical inspired by the vampire novels of Anne Rice, will begin performances on Broadway at the Palace Theater on March 11 in advance of its official opening there on April 13.

Boasting the first theatrical score by the legendary pop songwriting team of Elton John and Bernie Taupin, the show will have a pre-Broadway tryout engagement at San Francisco’s Curran Theater from December 17 through January 29 and is scheduled to hit New York in Spring 2006.

The show’s creative team also includes book writer Linda Woolverton and director Robert Jess Roth, both of whom worked in those capacities on Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Heading the cast of Lestat are Hugh Panaro in the title role, Carolee Carmello as Gabrielle, Jack Noseworthy as Armand, Jim Stanek as Louis, Roderick Hill as Nicolas, Michael Genet as Marius, and Allison Fischer as Claudia.
