The Magic Circle Opera Repertory Ensemble will present the first concert in its American Masters Arts Festival Biennial series, “America Honors Ned Rorem — An 80th Birthday Gala,” on Monday, October 27 at 8pm at Merkin Concert Hall, 129 West 67th Street.

Rorem is a prolific composer whose hundreds of works include song cycles, choruses, orchestral pieces, piano concertos, and operas. The Merkin Hall concert will be conducted by Stan Tucker and will feature performances by Broadway stars Marc Kudisch and Lisa Vroman as well as Metropolitan Opera star Delores Ziegler. The program will also include tributes from playwright Edward Albee and former New York City commissioner of cultural affairs Schuyler Chapin.

Among the Rorem pieces to be performed in the concert is the one-act opera Four Dialogues (1954), a love story starring Vroman and Kudisch and featuring Stan Tucker and Larry Yurman on piano.

All tickets are $60. For reservations, phone 212-501-3330.
