Original Broadway Cast Recording of Matilda to Be Released in September

Broadway Records and Yellow Sound Label will produce the new album.

The original Broadway company of Matilda the Musical will have their performances preserved for posterity on an upcoming cast recording, to be released this fall by Broadway Records/Yellow Sound Label. The album, produced by Michael Croiter and Christopher Nightingale, will be available digitally and at the Shubert Theatre beginning September 27 and is set to hit stores on October 22.

Inspired by the acclaimed novel by Roald Dahl, Matilda the Musical features a Tony Award-nominated score by Tim Minchin and a Tony-winning book by Dennis Kelly. Directed by Matthew Warchus and choreographed by Peter Darling, the production stars Sophia Gennusa, Oona Laurence, Bailey Ryon, and Milly Shapiro alternating the title role, with Bertie Carvel as Miss Trunchbull, Lauren Ward as Miss Honey, Lesli Margherita as Mrs. Wormwood, Karen Aldridge as Mrs. Phelps, and 2013 Tony Award winner Gabriel Ebert as Mr. Wormwood.

The opening night ensemble included Frenie Acoba, Erica Simone Barnett, Judah Bellamy, Jack Broderick, Ava DeMary, John Arthur Greene, Emma Howard, Nadine Isenegger, Colin Israel, Thayne Jasperson, Luke Mannikus, Madilyn Morrow, Sawyer Nunes, Jared Parker, Celia Mei Rubin, John Sanders, Tamika Sonja Lawrence, Philip Spaeth, Ryan Steele, Betsy Struxness, Samantha Sturm, Heather Tepe, Ben Thompson, Clay Thomson, Taylor Trensch, Beatrice Tulchin, and Ted Wilson.

Produced by The Royal Shakespeare Company and The Dodgers, Matilda the Musical received four Tony Awards and a Tony Honor for Excellence in the Theater for each of the four girls sharing the title role, as well as two Outer Critics Circle Awards, five Drama Desk Awards including Best Musical, and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical.
