The Lion King is set to surpass the original Broadway production of A Chorus Line to become the fifth longest-running show in Broadway history when it plays its 6138th performance on August 15 at 2pm at the Minskoff Theatre.

Based on the 1994 Disney animated film, The Lion King features Elton John and Tim Rice's music from the film along with three new songs by John and Rice. Additional musical material is by Lebo M, Mark Mancina, Jay Rifkin, Taymor and Hans Zimmer as well as music from "Rhythm of the Pride Lands," an album inspired by the original music in the film, written by Lebo M, Mark Mancina, and Hans Zimmer.

Translated into seven different languages, the show has been performed in 15 different countries on five continents. The Lion King can currently be seen on Broadway, on stages across North America, on tour in Japan, and in Tokyo, London's West End, Hamburg and Madrid.
