Ghostlight Records will release the Premiere Cast Recording of Carrie: The Musical on September 25. The album features vocals by Marin Mazzie, Molly Ranson, and the company of MCC Theater’s recent revival of the 1988 musical, which was directed by Stafford Arima.

Featuring a score by Michael Gore and Dean Pitchford, the recording will reflect the many changes made by the original creators for MCC’s scaled-down production, which ran at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. The album was executive produced by Kurt Deutsch, produced by Gore and Joel Moss and features orchestrations by Doug Besterman, vocal design by AnnMarie Milazzo, and musical direction and arrangements by Mary-Mitchell Campbell.

Based on Stephen King’s bestselling novel, the musical, which features a book by Lawrence D. Cohen, tells the story of a troubled teenage girl (Ranson) who seeks revenge after being bullied at school and tortured by her loving, religious fanatic mother (Mazzie).

The cast recording also features Christy Altomare, Carmen Cusack, Jeanna de Waal, Derek Klena, Ben Thompson, Wayne Alan Wilcox, Corey Boardman, Blair Goldberg, F. Michael Haynie, Andy Mientus, Elly Noble, and Jen Sese.

The band includes Campbell, Adam Wachter, Craig Magnano, Dillon Kondor, Brian Hamm, Damien Bassman, and Alisa Horn.
