The production will then move to The Museum of Jewish Heritage for a September 7at 3pm matinee for FDNY families and the public. The Museum of Jewish Heritage will also host a special benefit performance on Thursday, September 8 for The FDNY Foundation. An additional performance will also be offered Friday, September 9 at 2pm, featuring former Bats (and original production understudies) Irene Walsh and Tim Cummings.

Nelson, an award-winning author, playwright, and teacher, wrote The Guys in 2001, based on her experience with a New York City fire captain after the 9/11 attacks. The original production, directed by Simpson, starred Weaver and Bill Murray; they were followed by numerous stars, with Wopat playing his part in a fifth anniversary production of the show in 2006. The film version, directed by Simpson, starred Weaver and Anthony LaPaglia, who also appeared in the stage production.
