Sally Mayes to Star in Off-Broadway Run of Play It Cool

Tony Award nominee Sally Mayes will star in the musical Play It Cool, which will be begin an Off-Broadway run at Theatre Row’s Acorn Theatre on September 2, with an official opening set for September 14. The production will directed by Sharon Rosen with choreography by Marc Kimelman.


The musical is conceived by Larry Dean Harris, with a book by Martin Casella and Larry Dean Harris, lyrics by Mark Winkler; music by Phillp Swann, and additional music by Jim Andron, Michael Cruz, Marilyn Harris, Emilio Palame, and Larry Steelman.

The show takes place in Hollywood in 1953 and is set in Mary’s Hideaway, an underground nightclub where everyone’s got a secret.


The cast will also feature Michael Buchanan, Chris Hoch, Robyn Hurder, and Michael McGuirk.


The show will feature musical supervision and arrangements by Joe Baker, choreography by Marc Kimelman, set design by Thomas A. Walsh, costume design by Therese Bruck, lighting design by Deb Sullivan, and sound design by Carl Casella and Peter Fitzgerald.
