Sandy Duncan will play the title role in the Barrington Stage Company's semi-staged concert production of the classic Jerry Herman musical Mame, October 4-15. The production will be directed by Julianne Boyd, the company's artistic director.

The show will also feature Diane J. Findlay as Vera Charles, with additional casting to be announced at a later date. Barrington had announced earlier this year that Donna McKechnie would star in the title role, but the Tony Award-winning actress bowed out earlier this summer because the engagement would conflict with rehearsals for the upcoming London revival of Over Here!

Duncan is a three-time Tony Award nominee for Canterbury Tales, The Boy Friend, and Peter Pan. She has also starred on Broadway in Love Is a Time of Day, My One and Only, and Chicago. Earlier this year, she starred in the Old Globe's production of A Body of Water. Her many film and television credits include Star Spangled Girl, The Hogan Family, The Swan Princess, and Roots, for which she received an Emmy Award nomination.

Mame debuted on Broadway in 1966 with Angela Lansbury in the lead; that production ran for over 1,500 performances. Lansbury also starred in a short-lived 1983 Broadway revival. Earlier this summer, Christine Baranski played the role in the Kennedy Center's production of the musical.
