Stephen Temperley’s Souvenir, a two-character play with music that earned rave reviews for star Judy Kaye as Florence Foster Jenkins, is scheduled to open at the Lyceum Theatre on November 10, according to The New York Times. The production will be directed by Vivian Matalon, whose Broadway credits include The Tap Dance Kid and Morning’s at Seven.

Souvenir focuses on the musical career of Jenkins, a wealthy woman with a distinct lack of talent. who teamed up in the 1930s with pianist Cosme McMoon. Despite her poor vocal skills, Jenkins became a huge success — and her odd career culminated in a sold-out performance at Carnegie Hall.

Souvenir first came to life at the Berkshire Theater Festival, before moving Off-Broadway to the York Theater, where it ran from December 1, 2004 to January 16, 2005 with Jack Lee as Cosme. It is returning to the BTF August 17-September 3 with Donald Corren as Cosme.

Kaye won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her role as Carlotta in The Phantom of the Opera. Her other Broadway credits include Mamma Mia!, Ragtime, and On the Twentieth Century. She received a Lucille Lortel Award nomination for Best Actress for her performance in Souvenir.
