Les Misérables Lyricist Alain Boublil to Present New Work at 59E59 Theaters

A stage adaptation of James Dickey’s ”Deliverance” is also on the venue’s fall roster.

59E59 Theaters has announced its lineup of Fall 2014 productions, opening with the world premiere stage adaptation of James Dickey's acclaimed novel Deliverance, produced by Godlight Theatre Company. The story is adapted by Sean Tyler and features direction by Joe Tantalo, with Gregory Konow, Nick Paglino, Ryan O’Callaghan, Bryce Hodgson, Jarrod Zayas, and additional casting still to be announced. Performances will run from October 10-November 9.

Crossroads Theatre Company's Lift, written by Walter Mosley and directed by Marshall Jones III, will follow with a run from October 17-November 3. The cast will feature Shavonna Banks, Maameyaa Boafo, Biko Eisen-Martin, and Martin Kushner.

Next will be Hard Rain — The Songs of Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, created and performed by Barb Jungr, with Tracy Stark on piano. Produced by CCA, performances will run from October 28-November 9.

Former executive director of the American Theatre Wing Robert Callely's On a Stool at the End of the Bar will follow, featuring direction by Michael Parva. The production is slated for a run from November 14-December 14.

Asymetric, written by Mac Rogers and directed by Jordana Williams, will run simultaneously from November 13-December 6. Produced by Ground UP Productions and Gideon Productions, the cast will include Rob Maitner, Kate Middleton, Seth Shelden, and Sean Williams.

Slow Dusk and Markheim, two one-act operas by Carlisle Floyd and produced by the Little Opera Theatre of NY, will then run from December 5-14. Philip Shneidman will direct with Richard Cordova conducting.

Ringing in the new year will be Manhattan Parisienne, a musical play written by Les Misérables lyricist Alain Boublil and directed by Tony-nominated choreographer Graciela Daniele. Performances will run from December 18-January 4, 2015 with a cast to be announced.

Running from December 16-January 4, 2015 will be Beware of Young Girls: Kate Dimbleby Sings the Dory Previn Story, produced by Pegasus Theatre. The show is created and performed by UK singer Kate Dimbleby, written with Amy Rosenthal, and directed by Cal McCrystal.

The West End transfer of Café Society Swing: A True Story will also run from December 16-January 4, 2015. The show is written by Alex Webb and directed by Simon Green, with Evan Pappas and additional cast members to be announced.
