Ted Van Griethuysen, Holly Twyford Set for Sounding Beckett at CSC

Joy Zinoman, founding artistic director of The Studio Theatre in Washington, DC, will helm Sounding Beckett, at Classic Stage Company (CSC), September 14-23.

Sounding Beckett is an evening of theater and music that pairs three plays by Samuel Beckett from his “ghost period” with new works by contemporary composers Chester Biscardi, Laura Schwendinger, David Glaser, Laura Kaminsky, John Halle, and Scott Johnson, written expressly in response to those plays. Beckett’s plays included in the piece include Footfalls, Ohio Impromptu, and Catastrophe.

The cast will feature Philip Goodwin, Ted van Griethuysen, and Holly Twyford, along with the voice of the Tony-nominated actress Kathleen Chalfant.

The production’s music will be performed live by Cygnus Ensemble with music director William Anderson.

Beckett’s niece Grace Bouton will join Ms. Zinoman for a Q&A following the performance on September 16.
