New La MaMa Season to Feature Sheila Callaghan, Ping Chong, Neil LaBute, Taylor Mac

La MaMa has announced the line-up for its 51st season, themed “Beyond Borders.”

Among the approximately 60 productions planned for the 2012-2013 season will be Author directing Author, a double bill of the one acts Lovely Head by Neil LaBute, directed by Marco Calvani, and Calvani’s Things of This World, directed by LaBute (September 27-October 14); Jean-Claude van Itallie’s Confessions and Conversation, directed by Rosemary Quinn (September 20-23); and Catherine Filloux’s Luz, directed by Jose Zayas with music by Sergio R. Reyes (September 27-October 14).


The season also includes Ping Chong’s Undesirable Elements (October 18-November 4); Erik Ehn’s Soulographie: Our Genocides (November 8-18); Sheila Callaghan’s Port Out, Starboard Home directed by Ben Yalom and performed by foolsFURY (November 8-25); John Jahnke’s Funeral Games performed by The Hotel Savant; The Foundry Theatre’s production of Brecht’s Good Person of Szechuan featuring Taylor Mac (February 1-24); and ‘so go the ghosts of mexico, a new play by Matthew Paul Olmos selected as the first-ever Ellen Stewart Award.
