Leon Addison Brown and Ritchie Coster will star in Signature Theatre’s production of The Train Driver, written and directed by Athol Fugard. This final production in the Residency One: Athol Fugard Series will be presented at The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center, August 14-September 23 with an opening on September 9.

Based on a true story, the play centers on Roelf (Coster), a train driver, who has spent weeks searching for the identities of a mother and child he unintentionally killed with his train. After a fruitless journey through shanty towns, he encounters an old gravedigger named Simon (Brown) who helps the desperate man unburden his conscience.

Brown’s stage credits include The Orphans’ Home Cycle and Two Trains Running. Coster has been seen on television in Luck and on stage in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie.

The creative team includes Christopher H. Barreca (scenic design), Susan Hilferty (costume design), Stephen Strawbridge (lighting design), Brett Jarvis (sound design), Doug Wieselman (original music) and Barbara Rubin (dialect coach).
