Bebe Neuwirth, Lorenzo Pisoni Set for Manhattan Theatre Club’s Golden Age

Manhattan Theatre Club has announced that Bebe Neuwirth and Lorenzo Pisoni will appear in the New York premiere of Terrence McNally’s Golden Age, beginning previews November 13 at MTC at New York City Center – Stage I. Walter Bobbie will direct.

In Golden Age, it’s opening night of Vincenzo Bellini’s new opera, and the Italian composer is determined to win the adulation of not only his audience, but his colleagues and rivals as well.

Neuwirth received Tony Awards for her work in Chicago and Sweet Charity. She most recently appeared Off-Broadway in CSC’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Among her notable television work is the role of Dr. Lilith Sternin on Cheers and Frasier.

Pisoni played Nugget opposite Daniel Radcliffe in the most recent Broadway revival of Equus, and is also known for his critically acclaimed solo show, Humor Abuse, for which he won Lucille Lortel, Outer Critics Circle, Drama Desk, and Obie Awards.

The creative team will include Santo Loquasto (set design), Jane Greenwood (costume design), Peter Kaczorowski (lighting design), and Ryan Rumery (sound design).
