Ty Jones to Star in Classical Theatre of Harlem’s Henry V
Obie Award winner Ty Jones will play the title role in Classical Theatre of Harlem’s production of William Shakespeare’s Henry V, to run August 5 – September 4 at The Malcolm X & Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Center. Jenny Bennett will direct. Additional casting will be announced shortly.
As previously announced, the production will also be presented August 5-6 at Marcus Garvey Park and August 27-29 in East River Park, as part of the 2011 SummerStage Season.
The creative team will include Anka Lupes (scenic design), Colin Young (lighting design), and Rachel Dozier-Ezell (costume design), along with composer Patricia Ju, who will provide original music.
In related news, the company has announced that it will also co-present, with the Hip-Hop Theater Festival, Radha Blanks’ SEED, to run September 6 – October 9 at The National Black Theatre. The play centers on a burnt-out social worker who decides to write a book detailing her career and the child welfare case that brought her acclaim. Niegel Smith will direct the production.
