Ortega, Ramirez, Reyes, Velez, et al. Recieve ALMA Nominations

Sara Ramirez, who won the Tony Award for her role as Lady of the Lake in Monty Python’s Spamalot, has received a Best Actress nomination for the 2008 ALMA Awards for her starring role on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy . The awards, which honor Latinos contribution to entertainment will be presented next month, and air on ABC-TV on September 12.

Other notable nominees include stage veterans Judy Reyes and Lauren Velez, recognized for their roles in the TV series Scrubs and Dexter, respectively; High School Musical 2 director Kenny Ortega, actor Charlie Sheen, and soap opera favorites Maurice Benard, Kamar de los Reyes, and David Fumero. The ensemble cast of ABC’s Ugly Betty will get its own award.

Special honors will also be given to singers Linda Ronstadt and Shakira, as well as fashion designer Narcisco Rodriguez.
