Spiegelworld will return to the South Street Seaport, Pier 17, for its third annual summer carnival, August 6-November 2. Events will take place in two tent venues, “The Salon Perdu” and “The Deluxe.”

Spiegelworld will include ground-breaking shows, intimate concerts, brazen burlesque, and some of the city’s top DJs. Highlights will include the world premiere of Désir, a theatrical circus experience inspired by the sexual, intellectual and artistic adventurers of early 20th century Paris. Director Wayne Harrison, choreographer John “Cha Cha” O’Connell and music director Josh Abrahams — in collaboration with legendary Parisian jewelry house, Boucheron — have created a acrobatic interpretation of La Ronde (The Blue Room) where one fleeting love affair is merely an entrée to the next encounter.

Events will also include the return of Absinthe, which will feature a brand new line up of talent from the seediest and sexiest cabaret dens of the world. Hosted by The Gazillionaire , Penny, and The Daredevil Chicken Club, acts will include Icarian Games from Italy, the Duo Sergio from the Ukraine, the Duo Ssens from Quebec, the roller-skating return of The Willers, Julie Atlas Muz, Ms Kaye Tuckerman, and Princess Anya, billed as “the world’s most beautiful woman.”

Other Spiegelworld events will include The Gazillionaire’s Late Nite Lounge, Meow Meow & Justin Bond, Lance Horne, shows from The New York Fringe Festival, the North American launch of Headphone Disco, and concerts by Martha Wainwright, Amanda Palmer, Ute Lemper, The Bird and The Bee, Deerhoof, The Yard Dogs Road Show, and The Citizens Band.
