Barbara Walsh to Star in Reading of The Crowd You’re in With

Barbara Walsh, who starred as Joanne in the recent Broadway revival of Company, has joined the cast of Rebecca Gilman’s The Crowd You’re In With, to be read at Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center’s National Playwrights Conference in Waterford, Connecticut on July 12 and 14. The readings, to be directed by Wendy C. Goldberg, will also feature Ryan King, John Rothman, Tom Story, Makela Spielman, Mike Doyle, and Amy Redford.

Seven other plays will be read at the Playwrights Conference: Deborah Zoe Laufer’s End Days (July 5 and 7); James Still’s The Velvet Rut (July 6 and 8); Samuel Brett Williams’ The Woodpecker (July 11 and 13); Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa’s Good Boys and True (July 18 and 20); Karen Zacarias’ The Book Club Play (July 19 and 21); Lucy Caldwell’s Guardians (July 25 and 27); and Ifa Bayeza’s The Ballad of Emmett Till (July 26 and 28). Among the many notable actors who will appear in these readings are Jeremy Bobb, Cherise Booth, Daniel Breaker, Rebecca Brooksher, Dana Delany, Colman Domingo, Peter Friedman, Zoe Lister-Jones, Dierdre O’Connell, Thomas Sadoski, and Myra Lucretia Taylor.

Also taking place this month will be the O’Neill’s National Musical Theater Conference. Notes to MariAnne, a musical by David Rossmer and Dan Lipton, will run July 14-15 and 19-20. It will feature Jenny Fellner, Suzan Postel, Monique French, Jason Wooten, Dennis Parlato, Andrew Samonsky, Ken Triwush, Eric Bondoc, and Alicia Irving. Red Eye of Love, an adaptation of a play by Arnold Weinstein, with book and lyrics by Weinstein and John Wulp and music by Jan Warner, will play July 21, 22, 25 and 27. The cast will include Cheyenne Jackson, Elizabeth Stanley, Joe Grifasi, Cole Burden, Kimberly Chesser, Harris Doran, Anne Kittredge, Jason Ma, Monique Midgette, and Paul Stovall.
