Hecht, Huff, Keith, et al. Set for The Other Side of Newark Reading

Jessica Hecht, Neal Huff, Dana Jones, Larry Keith, and Myra Lucretia Taylor will star in a free reading of Enid Rudd’s play The Other Side of Newark, to be held at 3pm on Monday, July 10 at the Manhattan Theatre Club’s Creative Center (311 West 43rd Street). The reading will be directed by Pamela Berlin.

The play concerns Rose, a white teacher in the 1930s (played by Hecht), who sets out to improve the life of one of her African-American students, Dinah (played by Jones). Rudd’s other plays include Peterpat and The Ashes of Mrs. Reasoner. Berlin’s directing credits include The Cemetery Club and Steel Magnolias.

Hecht is currently starring in the Lincoln Center Theater production of The House in Town. Huff has been seen in Take Me Out and The Little Dog Laughed. Jones previously played the role of Dinah at Luna Stage. Ketih’s stage credits include Caroline, or Change, Titanic, and The God Committee. Taylor has been seen on Broadway in Nine, Macbeth, and Electra.
