King me! Liev Schreiber has been justly hailed for his performance as Shakespeare’s Henry V in the Joseph Papp Public Theater/New York Shakespeare Festival production at the Delacorte in Central Park. Here’s Schreiber arriving at the opening night party, held at the Belvedere Castle in the park on Tuesday, July 15.
Shortly after Schreiber got to the party, we caught him in conversation with Mos Def, who appeared in the Public Theater’s Fucking A last season.
The Henry V performance and party attracted lots of theater folks. Among those making the scene: Bob Balaban and Philip Seymour Hoffman…
…Alec Baldwin (who starred in Macbeth at the Public a few seasons back) with his date, Nicole Seidel…
…Josh Hamilton, who’s in the new movie On_Line…
…Julianna Margulies (recently seen on stage in Intrigue With Faye) and Fisher Stevens…
…Public Theater honcho George C. Wolfe with Veanne Cox, who’ll be starring in Caroline, or Change for the theater this fall…
…entertainment lawyer John Breglio with his wife, lyricist Nan Knighton (The Scarlet Pimpernel)…
…movie stars Sam Rockwell and Famke Janssen…
…and Daniel Reichard, who played Keith Haring in the Public’s Radiant Baby, with Jennifer Simard (one of his co-stars in the upcoming Off-Broadway musical The Thing About Men).
TV star Brett Somers is a smash in her debut cabaret engagement at Danny’s Sklyight Room. We caught up with Brett after her opening night performance on Monday, July 7. Here she is solo…
…and here she is with cabaret maven Erv Raible.
Also on July 7, Sh-K-Boom Records celebrated the release of its first Broadway cast album, Amour, at the King Kong Room. As part of the festivities, stars Melissa Errico and Malcolm Gets performed some selections from Michel Legrand’s lovely score for the show. Here’s Gets singing “An Ordinary Guy”…
…here’s Errico singing “Somebody”…
…and here’s some video of the two stars duetting in “Special Time of Day” and being interviewed by TheaterMania prior to the performance.
