Pet Adoption Event Broadway Barks 4! is Slated for July 13 in Shubert Alley

Hear ye, pet lovers: The fourth annual edition of the dog and cat adoption event Broadway Barks! will be held in Shubert Alley on Saturday, July 13, beginning at 3:30pm.

The event will be hosted by Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peter, with such Broadway performers as Gary Beach, Gavin Creel, John Cullum, Julie Haggerty, Harriet Harris, Neil Patrick Harris, Marilu Henner, Buck Henry, Shuler Hensley, Spencer Kayden, Richard Kind, Marc Kudisch, Andrea Martin, Howard McGillin, John McMartin, Phyllis Newman, Kerry O’Malley, Nancy Opel, Brad Oscar, Rhea Perlman, Louise Pitre, Alicia Silverstone, and Patrick Wilson scheduled to attend the adopt-a-thon.

Produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, Broadway Barks 4! will include, from 5:30 to 6:30pm, celebrity presentations of pets from citywide animal shelters. Representatives of these organizations will be on hand to facilitate adoptions and to offer educational information on spaying and neutering.

Last year’s Broadway Barks! attracted an audience of 6,000 theater fans, pet owners, and animal lovers. The shelters and adoption agencies to be represented at this year’s event include A Cause for Paws, Animal Haven, ASPCA, BARC Shelter, Bide-A-Wee, Bobbi and the Strays, CACC, City Critters, The Humane Society of New York, Kitty Kind, Long Island Greyhound Rescue, Loving Touch, Manhattan Valley Cat Rescue, Northeastern Boxer, New York Pet-I-Care, PLUTO Rescue, SICAW, Strays from the Heart, and The Tigger Foundation.

Broadway Barks 4! will also feature an auction of memorabilia autographed by celebrities; additional auction merchandise will be available via the Internet by logging on to www.eBay.com and using the key words “Broadway Barks.” Proceeds from the auction and other donations received will benefit the shelters and organizations attending the July 13 event.
