Second Stage will round out its 2013 Uptown Series with a New York premiere of the musical mystery comedy Murder for Two, set to run at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre from July 10-August 10 with an official opening night scheduled for July 25.

Directed by Scott Schwartz (Golda’s Balcony), Murder for Two features music by Joe Kinosian, lyrics by Kellen Blair, and a collaborative book between the writing duo. The production will star Brett Ryback (The History Boys at Ahmanson), who will be making his Second Stage debut, and Jeff Blumenkrantz, who received a Tony Award nomination for writing the score to the musical Urban Cowboy and has performed in several Broadway productions including A Class Act, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and Damn Yankees.

The musical whodunit is set in a house of eccentric characters and features Ryback as the investigator and Blumenkrantz as all 13 of his suspects. Both actors frequently take their turn at playing a tune on the piano throughout this Agatha Christie-inspired comedy.

Murder for Two features scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Andrea Lauer, lighting design by Jason Lyons, sound design by Jill BC DuBoff.
