Tony Award winner Douglas Hodge will play the title role in a Broadway revival of Cyrano de Bergerac, to be presented by Roundabout Theatre Company at the American Airlines Theatre. Jamie Lloyd will direct the production, which will begin previews September 14, 2012, with an opening on October 11.

Edmond Rostand’s play, which will be seen here in a translation by Ranjit Bolt, centers on a long-nosed nobleman who lends his poetic words to a handsome young cadet who is wooing Cyrano’s own unrequited love.

The full cast and design team will be announced soon.

Hodge won a Tony Award for his performance as Albin in the most recent Broadway revival of La Cage aux Folles. This past season, he received an Olivier nomination for his work run in John Osborne’s play Inadmissible Evidence. He is currently directing Torch Song Trilogy for the Menier Chocolate Factory in London.
