Costume Designer William Ivey Long Elected Chair of the American Theatre Wing

Five-time Tony Award-winning costume designer William Ivey Long has been named the new chair of the American Theatre Wing.

Long’s Broadway credits include, most recently, Don’t Dress For Dinner as well as Chicago, The Boy From Oz, Hairspray, The Producers, The Music Man, Cabaret, Guys And Dolls, Lend Me A Tenor, and many more. He was inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame in January 2006.

Long will succeed current chair Ted Chapin, who concludes his four-year term this year. Chapin will maintain a role in The Wing as he takes on the responsibilities as co-vice chair.

The American Theatre Wing is a not-for-profit organization best known as the creator of the Tony Awards, which it presents annually with The Broadway League. The Wing will also welcome three new appointees: Pamela Zilly, Pamela Bell, and Mark Abrahams.
