Liz Larsen and Sarah Litzsinger are set to appear in a new developmental production of the musical Platinum, to be presented as part of the New York International Fringe Festival. Ben West will direct the piece, which will feature choreography by Rommy Sandhu and musical direction by Fran Minarik.

With music by Gary William Friedman, lyrics by Will Holt, a book by Holt and Vilanch, and revisions by director West, the show follows Lila Halliday (Larsen), a dazzling Hollywood legend trying to make a comeback in the explosive music industry of the 1970s.

The production will be a new one-act version of the show and will be performed by a cast of five. Four musical numbers and eight characters have been eliminated from the piece, while two two new songs – “This One’s for Me” and “Moments” – have been added.

Larsen received Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award nominations for her performance in The Most Happy Fella. Among her many other theater credits are Hairspray, The Rocky Horror Show, The Smell of the Kill, Damn Yankees, and Blues in the Night.

Litzsinger is Broadway’s longest running Belle in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Other Broadway credits include Marilyn: An American Fable, Oliver!, Les Miserables, and Amour.

As previously announced, the New York International Fringe Festival will run August 13-29 and feature nearly 200 works from 18 US states, along with international productions from 12 countries including Singapore, Italy, France, Ireland, Norway, India and Australia.
