Jane Krakowski’s Solo CD, The Laziest Gal In Town, to Be Released July 13

Jane Krakowski‘s debut solo album The Laziest Gal In Town will be released by DRG Records on July 13. The CD, produced by Hugh Fordin, preserves the Tony Award winning performer’s nightclub debut at Feinstein’s at Loews Regency last fall.

The disc features a mix of standards, show songs, and rarities. Among the selections are “A Little Brains, A Little Heart,” “13 Men,” a medley of the Jazz age titles “Wacky Dust” and “When I Get Low, I Get High” and “Tweet,” a version of Rodgers and Hart’s “Zip,” which has new lyrics by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. All of the arrangements on the disc are by Michael Kosarin, who accompanies on piano and who is joined by Jay Leonhart (bass), John Redsecker (drums) and Lawrence Feldman (flute, clarinet, saxophone). Music critic Will Friedwald has provided liner notes.

Krawkowski won Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Awards for her performance in the revival of Nine. Her many other stage credits include Starlight Express, Grand Hotel, Damn Yankees, and Guys and Dolls. She is perhaps best known for playing Jenna Maroney on NBC’s 30 Rock, and has also co-starred on television’s Ally McBeal.
