Adrienne Barbeau to Join ABC’S General Hospital

Adrienne Barbeau will join the cast ABC’s daytime drama General Hospital, according to a report in TV Guide. Her first appearance will be on the August 12 episode.

Barbeau will be playing a character who runs a charity agency for children in Italy and who works closely with Brenda (played by Vanessa Marcil, who will be returning to the show on August 11). Both characters will first be seen in Italy before they arrive in the fictional city of Port Charles.

Barbeau received a Theatre World Award and Tony Award nomination for her performance as Betty Rizzo in the original production of Grease. Most recently she was seen on stage playing singer Judy Garland in The Property Known as Garland. Her many film and television credits include Maude.
